On October 15, the FAO recognized INIAP in the category of Sustainable Plant Production and Protection as part of the 2025 Global Technical Recognition, highlighting our work in germplasm conservation and support for genetic improvement programs. Out of nearly 300 global nominations, only 39 institutions were distinguished, and in Latin America, only Ecuador and Argentina received this award. This achievement reflects years of rigorous work by the team of the National Germplasm Bank and would not have been possible without the support of the Crop Trust, which contributed to enhancing our quality management system. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to food security and climate resilience, and motivates us to strengthen partnerships, modernize processes, and ensure that every seed is available for research and for territories, safeguarding the history of our people and the future of our food.
