IMPORTANCE OF THE PGRFA IN ECUADOR

Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA) are the main resources that sustain global food production. They encompass thousands of species and their genetic variability, which enable adaptation to extreme climatic conditions and, consequently, to climate change. The National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIAP) is Ecuador’s leading institution in the management, conservation, and sustainable use of PGRFA.
