COLD CHAMBERS

Germplasm regeneration is carried out when the viability of a seed lot falls below 85%. Multiplication is done when the number of seeds of the accession is less than 1000.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Since 1984, INIAP-DENAREF has regenerated 4318 accessions of various species such as Andean grains, Amazonian fruits and wild species related to crops.

FIELD REGENERATION

Field regeneration refers to a set of activities such as: suckering, pruning for phytosanitary purposes, shade scraping and recovery of trees affected by some biotic or abiotic factor.

COASTAL REGION
One of the most representative achievements of the last year is the implementation of the collections of Theobroma cacao L. in the Pichilingue Tropical Experimental Station, for their recovery and conservation ensuring the preservation of this strategic resource for the research and agricultural development of the country. This project was financed by the «Operational and Data Management of the National Germplasm Bank of INIAP – Ecuador», managed by CROP TRUST, INIAP and IICA.

ANDEAN REGIONANDES
The regeneration of important preserved crops in the Andean area of our country has been achieved, including Andean grains such as (Amaranthus spp., Pisum sativum, Phaseolus vulgaris); Andean roots (Canna indica, Arracacia xanthorrhiza, Pachyrhizus erosus); and tubers such as (Oxalis tuberosa, Tropaeolum tuberosum, Ullucus tuberosus) contributing to the preservation and availability of these valuable resources for food security and agricultural research.
AMAZON REGION
On the other hand, in the Ecuadorian Amazon, regeneration has been carried out in crops such as (Manihot esculenta, Dioscorea bulbifera, Ipomoea batatas) and medicinal plants.
